Housing Assistance

From unhoused to home: referrals, resource navigation, and limited financial assistance designed to help eligible households remain safe, stable, and connected.

Feeding GA Families may provide or refer individuals and families to temporary housing, long-term housing, rent or mortgage assistance, utility assistance, transportation resources, bereavement support, and other housing-stability services.

Programs depend on location, eligibility, partner availability, and current funding. Submission of an application does not guarantee approval or financial assistance.

Preventing Displacement and Connecting Families to Options

Our Housing Assistance programs help individuals and families identify available resources, prevent displacement, and pursue safer, more stable living arrangements.

When direct financial assistance is available, payments are made directly to an approved hotel, landlord, mortgage company, utility provider, government agency, or other authorized vendor. Funds are not paid directly to applicants.

Important information:

  • An online application may be required.

  • Application approval is not guaranteed.

  • Assistance is available only when funding exists.

  • Eligibility and service areas vary by program.

  • Additional restrictions may apply based on residence, age, veteran status, income, or household circumstances.

  • No walk-ins are accepted at the administrative and warehouse location.

Emergency Temporary Placement

Limited temporary hotel-placement assistance may be available for qualifying individuals and families who are unhoused, staying in a hotel, or without access to safe, permanent housing.

This program is intended to provide short-term relief while participants pursue more stable housing options.

When funding is available:

  • An online application is required.

  • Approval is not guaranteed.

  • Payments are made directly to an approved hotel.

  • Assistance is never paid directly to the applicant.

Long-Term Housing Navigation

Feeding GA Families may connect individuals and families with partner agencies offering long-term or permanent housing opportunities.

Housing options may include:

  • Shared-housing resources

  • Affordable or reduced-cost apartments

  • Alternative housing arrangements

  • Shelter and transitional-housing referrals

  • Permanent-housing programs administered by partner agencies

Applications, eligibility reviews, and approvals for partner programs are handled by the respective partner organization. A referral from Feeding GA Families does not guarantee placement or approval.

Rent and Mortgage Assistance

Referrals and limited financial assistance may be available to help qualifying Fulton County residents reduce the risk of eviction, foreclosure, or displacement.

Support may include:

  • Information about organizations offering rental or mortgage assistance

  • Referrals to local housing-stability programs

  • Limited direct assistance when funding is available

Additional eligibility restrictions may be imposed by funding partners or local government agencies, including requirements related to residency, age, income, or veteran status.

When direct assistance is approved, payment is made directly to the landlord or mortgage company.

Utility Assistance

Utility-assistance resources may help qualifying Fulton County households manage past-due bills and reduce the risk of losing essential services.

Support may include:

  • Information about currently available utility programs

  • Referrals to partner agencies

  • Limited direct assistance when funding is available

  • Help identifying income-qualified discount programs

When direct assistance is approved, payment is made to the utility provider—not to the applicant.

Program eligibility, funding, and utility-provider requirements are subject to change.

Senior Trash-Service Assistance

Feeding GA Families may support qualifying City of South Fulton residents age 60 or older who have past-due municipal trash-service bills.

This initiative is designed to help eligible older adults avoid property liens associated with unpaid trash-service balances and remain safely housed.

When assistance is available:

  • An online application is required.

  • Approval is not guaranteed.

  • Assistance depends on available funding.

  • Payments are made directly to the City of South Fulton.

Operation DOYEN

Operation DOYEN provides whole-family support for veterans and their families, with a particular focus on disabled veterans.

Program services may include:

  • Nationwide food assistance

  • Georgia-based rent, mortgage, and utility support

  • Housing-stability referrals

  • Hygiene products

  • Medical supplies

  • Nutrition and meal-planning resources

  • Connections to veteran and disability-service organizations

Food Security and Vital Resources: Available year-round based on resources and capacity.

Housing Support: Typically available November 1 through December 31 when funding exists.

An application is required. Contact Feeding GA Families for the current application link and program availability. No walk-ins are accepted.

Senior and Disability Utility Resources

Feeding GA Families may connect eligible households with income-qualified utility discount programs, including available Georgia Power resources.

Program qualifications may include individuals who:

  • Are age 65 or older

  • Receive Social Security Disability Insurance

  • Receive Supplemental Security Income

  • Participate in the HUD Housing Choice Voucher Program, commonly known as Section 8

These programs are administered by outside organizations. Requirements, verification procedures, and availability may change or end at any time.

Applicants should confirm all eligibility requirements directly with the administering organization.

Our team can help connect individuals and families with external housing and stability resources, including:

  • Emergency shelters

  • Transitional-housing programs

  • Affordable-housing opportunities

  • Rental and mortgage assistance

  • Utility-assistance programs

  • Transportation resources

  • Bereavement-support resources

  • Senior and veteran services

  • Community-based assistance programs
