BACKGROUND HISTORY

Feeding Georgia Families (FGF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to eradicating hunger and fostering
self-reliance among the most vulnerable communities across Georgia. Established in 2010, our mission
has always been twofold: to provide immediate access to nutritious food for those in need and to
empower individuals and families through education and resources to achieve long-term stability. We
believe that access to wholesome food is a fundamental right, not a privilege, and strive to make this a
reality for all Georgians, regardless of their socioeconomic status.

Over the years, FGF has grown from a small, local food pantry into a robust organization that provides a
range of services including food distribution, emergency assistance, and educational programs focused
on nutrition and financial literacy. Our journey began in a modest home kitchen, where our founders
recognized the profound impact of hunger and food insecurity on their community. Witnessed first-hand
were the detrimental effects on children’s development, adults’ ability to work, and seniors’ health. This
ignited our commitment to act, leading to the development of a comprehensive strategy to tackle hunger
head-on.

In the years that followed, FGF expanded its operations to serve not just urban areas but also the rural
and often neglected corners of Georgia. We've launched innovative programs like mobile food pantries,

which reach underserved communities, and collaborations with local farmers to provide fresh, locally-
sourced produce to those we serve. Our efforts have continuously evolved to address the changing

needs of our communities, especially in response to crises such as natural disasters and the recent
global pandemic. These challenges have only strengthened our resolve and underscored the importance
of our mission.

Another hallmark of FGF has been our focus on community empowerment. We believe in providing not
just a fish but teaching how to fish. Our educational workshops and programs equip participants with
valuable skills and knowledge to improve their well-being and achieve self-sufficiency. From teaching
budget-friendly cooking classes to offering resources for job seekers, our holistic approach addresses
the root causes of hunger and poverty.

As we look to the future, Feeding Georgia Families remains committed to being a pillar of support and a
source of hope for all Georgians. We envision a state where every individual and family has the
resources they need to live healthy, prosperous lives. With the continued support of our donors,
volunteers, and community partners, we are confident in our ability to make this vision a reality.

Our history is a testament to what can be achieved when compassion meets action. From our humble
beginnings to our current status as a player in the fight against hunger, FGF has remained steadfast in its
mission. We are more than just an organization; we are a community of individuals united by a common
goal—to ensure no Georgian goes hungry. Together, we have made significant strides, but our journey is
far from over. As we continue to expand our reach and refine our programs, our mission remains clear:
to feed, educate, and empower Georgia's families.
